Born in 1956, the company was founded by Gaëtan (Gator’s) father, René Ladouceur. It started out as a garage in a part of his house and expanded to a recycling business in the early 1980s. René was known not only in the Alexandria area but quite far away because of the work he did and the sponsorships he contributed. The original business, known as Kenyon Auto, was a place where you could get a solid repair job at a VERY reasonable price. Stemming from having many vehicle parts in his back yard the business further evolved into a recycling of said parts as well as other metals that would be brought to the location.
From its humble beginnings as a mechanic in his living room to a full fledged metal facility, René’s vision evolved into a company with over 20 employees that not only receives material to be recycled but also dispatches trucks to pick up as well. The company has even evolved as to help with demolition project to a large surrounding area.
In 2014 after the passing of his father, Gaëtan (or ‘Gator’ as he is most commonly known) decided to rebrand the business in 2016 and focus on the metal recycling. Surrounding himself with a team of dedicated individuals that believe in the Vision of the company he was able to again grow the scope of the enterprise. With contemporary tools and an increasing purchase and sales team, Gator’s Metal Recycling is poised to continue René’s vision of a core hard working company that believes in a close relationship with its customers
